OUR BELIEFS

SOLA GRATIA, SOLA FIDE,
SOLUS CHRISTUS, SOLA SCRIPTURA

Lutherans believe that humans are saved from their sins by God's grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone on the basis of Scripture alone.

Our Savior Lutheran is a member of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod. We also recommend Luther's Catechism as a great resource that provides scripture-based explanation to questions you may have.

About the Bible
Everything Lutherans believe comes from the Bible.

It is God's message of love and hope for all people. The Bible is the written Word of God, handed down to us in order to point us to the truth that we are saved from our sin and eternal death by the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. We believe the Bible is completely reliable and without error.

"For God so loved the world, that He gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16

About God
We believe there is only one true God—the Triune God, who exists in three separate but equal persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

"May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all." 2 Corinthians 13:14

About Being Saved
There is absolutely nothing we can do to "be saved"—Jesus Christ has already done everything necessary.

In His death and resurrection, everyone who believes in Jesus as Savior has been brought back into a right relationship with God. We do not cooperate in our salvation, and there is nothing we could ever present to God to make our way into eternal life with Him. We cannot reason our way to salvation, nor can we earn it.

About Good Works
Since there is nothing we can ever do to earn our salvation, we do not need to do good works in order to be saved.

Good works are done out of praise and thanksgiving because we are saved.

About Grace
Since there is nothing we can ever do to earn our salvation, we do not need to do good works in order to be saved.

Lutherans often refer to grace. While we deserved to pay the penalty for our sins, God had a different plan. Christ paid the debt, and we receive the forgiveness and eternal life from Him. It is undeserved and offered freely out of unconditional love.

So, do you need to call yourself a Lutheran to join us?

No, we are Christians because of the grace of God through faith in Christ crucified. We are a church of Jesus' followers and want to help you find the joy of following Jesus as you live in His free gift of grace. We'd be delighted for you to join us Sunday morning for worship!
